Palermo Argentinian Bistro, a beloved Hell’s Kitchen staple, has opened its newest location in Soho.
Making its home at 55 Grand Street, this marks the third Palermo location in Manhattan with stores in Hell’s Kitchen and Gramercy.
Led by partners Orhan Cakir, Executive Chef Carlos Barroz, and Wine Director Jorge Albarracin, the new Palermo location continues the brand’s mission to bring authentic Argentine cuisine, wine culture, and hospitality to New York City.
With over 30 years of hospitality experience under his belt, Cakir was inspired by his travels to Buenos Aires and Mendoza to create Palermo. When opening Palermo, Cakir wanted to celebrate not just the food and wine of Argentina, but also the country’s culture and community.

The menu at the new Soho location features traditional Argentine dishes comprised of imported meats, fresh seafood and house-made breads and sauces. At the heart of the menu is the restaurant’s wood-fired grill, which cooks up some favorite menu items at the other two Palermo locations, such as the 60-day dry-aged Tomahawk Steak, as well as skirt steak, New York strip, picanha, sweetbreads, chorizo and morcilla. The Soho restaurant also features a lineup of new pasta and salad dishes that were crafted especially for this neighborhood.
The menu also features a number of Argentine and Latin American influences, including beef empanadas, lamb croquettes, butterflied branzino with smoked Provençal sauce, and humita, a traditional South American preparation of fresh ground corn, squash and cheese, and tuna tartare with crispy quinoa and watermelon leche de tigre. The dessert menu includes flan, panqueques, churros, and cheesecake, all served with dulce de leche.

The wine program, overseen by Albarracin, features 80% Argentine selections, representing different regions of the country. The program is meant to be approachable and educational to guests, regardless of their level of wine knowledge. There is also a cocktail menu that puts fun twists on classic drinks, such as the Pineapple Moscow Mule, a New York Sour, and Negroni Mezcal.
For now, Palermo will offer dinner service and weekend brunch service, and plans to expand to lunch service down the line. The opening of the new Palermo location coincided with the start of the World Cup, which the restaurant is showing throughout the restaurant on TVs in the front and on a projector screen in the back room.
