I think Haley Stevens’ implosion complicates the future of Chuck Schumer because that was his girl. He went hard in the paint in the primary for her.
And now there are a lot of folks who are like, ‘Hey, Chuck, is this your person? This is who you thought should be the senator for Michigan?’
I think that she’s actually weakened his chances of becoming majority leader because a lot of people feel like, ‘Yeah, your finger’s not on the pulse if this is who you’re going behind. Did you not see the signs?’
The party is moving in a different direction, and I don’t know how many people in the Democratic caucus will vote for Schumer.
So maybe if, and this is a massive if, Democrats gain the Senate, I don’t think Schumer just walks in as majority leader.
