One of the main roads along Florida’s east coast is also the most dangerous road in the country on Halloween, according to a new analysis.

The study, conducted by personal injury firm Bagen Law using National Highway Traffic Safety Administration data, ranked U.S. 1 in Florida as the deadliest road in America during the holiday. Researchers examined fatal crashes between Oct. 31 and Nov. 1 from 2015 through 2024. Over those 10 Halloweens, U.S. 1 in Florida recorded 13 fatal crashes, 11 in urban areas and two in rural areas.

“US Route 1 is the most dangerous road drivers might travel on Halloween, especially the stretch going through Florida,” the report concluded. “The road has seen 13 fatal crashes specifically between October 31 and November 1, more than once each Halloween on average.”

U.S. 1 was not the only Florida road to make the top 10. Three others did:

— Interstate 95 ranked third nationally, with 10 fatal crashes during the decade, nine in urban areas and one in a rural area.

— U.S. 41, which runs along Florida’s west coast, ranked sixth, with eight fatal crashes, all in urban areas.

— Interstate 75 ranked 10th, with seven fatal crashes, three in urban areas and four in rural stretches.

California and Texas each had three roads in the top 10. California’s U.S. 101 ranked second, with 12 fatal crashes during the decade, four in urban areas and eight in rural areas.

Texas’ Interstate 35 ranked fourth, with 10 fatal crashes, nine in urban areas and one in a rural area.

Interstate 20 in Texas ranked fifth, with eight fatal crashes, three in urban areas and five in rural areas.

Interstate 5 in California ranked seventh, with seven fatal crashes, four in urban areas and three in rural areas.

Interstate 10 in Texas ranked eighth, with seven fatal crashes, two in urban areas and five in rural areas.

California’s State Route 99 ranked ninth, with seven fatal crashes, five in urban areas and two in rural areas.
