Giants, Najee Harris agree to 1-year deal

The New York Giants and veteran running back Najee Harris have agreed to a one-year contract, according to multiple reports on Tuesday.

The former Steeler and Charger visited Giants facilities on Monday, with the team’s desire to add veteran rushing depth a priority before the start of the 2026 season. It became even more pertinent after waiving Dante Miller, who suffered a groin injury during Saturday’s preseason opener against the Minnesota Vikings.

Harris is coming off a 2025 season that was limited to just three games due to a torn ACL. It was his only year with the Chargers after posting four straight 1,000-yard campaigns with Pittsburgh.

A physical, dynamic rusher when at full health, Harris’ presence on Monday struck Giants head coach John Harbaugh, who admitted that “I felt like the hair on the back of my neck stood up” when he saw him.

“He’s coming back from the Achilles injury he had with my brother [Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh], and he looks good in the workout,” Harbaugh said. “You know, he’s not back to 100%. He’s not in football shape yet. So, if we are able to do something, it’ll be a process. But that would be a guy that has got a lot of experience. He’s a decorated vet, and with those guys, generally, you just have to kind of see where they’re at when you get them. Sometimes it works out great. Sometimes, it’s just OK, and other times, it doesn’t work out.”

Harris will join a Giants running back room headlined by second-year rusher Cam Skattebo, who is coming off a gruesome season-ending leg injury last season. Tyrone Tracy, Devin Singletary, and Eric Gray are also in the mix for backfield reps.
