Odell Beckham Jr. at Giants facilities as chance of reunion grows

The possibility of Odell Beckham Jr. returning to the team that drafted him is skyrocketing, as the veteran wide receiver worked out for the New York Giants on Monday and is having a physical with the team.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo first reported on Beckham’s exhibition for Big Blue, with Ryan Dunleavy of the New York Post confirming that he is undergoing a physical in an attempt to get back onto the field for the first time since 2024 with the Miami Dolphins. He was suspended for the first six games of the 2025 campaign for violating the league’s performance-enhancing drug policy, and then went unsigned upon eligibility to return.

Beckham was once on the fast track toward becoming one of the best receivers in Giants franchise history after a brilliant start to his career from 2014 to 2016, recording 288 receptions for 4,122 yards and 35 touchdowns in 43 games.

In the following eight seasons, he had just 287 catches for 3,865 yards and 24 touchdowns, including stops with the Cleveland Browns, Baltimore Ravens, Los Angeles Rams, and Miami Dolphins.

He worked with new Giants head coach, John Harbaugh, while the Ravens in 2023, and was the team’s second-leading receiver. It was Harbaugh who first stoked the flames of a reunion between New York and the 33-year-old pass catcher at the NFL’s annual meetings last month.

“The obvious, pad answer would be you look at every option, right? And if Odell’s an option, then we’ll be looking at it for sure,” Harbaugh said. “And he and I do talk, we do text, we’ve maintained a really great relationship. He’s one of my very favorite people in the world, so it’s not like you don’t talk to guys about things like that, and certainly we have.

“We’ll just have to see where it all goes, what’s best for him, what’s best for the Giants. That’s the number one thing: what’s best for our team. Any player, if he helps you be a better team and can make you better, then you’re going to pursue that, but we’ll have to see where that goes.”

While the consensus is that Beckham’s best days are well behind him, his veteran presence could help rebuild the Giants’ wide-receiver room. Behind Malik Nabers, who had his second year in the league wiped out by a torn ACL, New York’s options on the outside are especially thin after Wan’Dale Robinson fled in free agency to the Tennessee Titans.
