The suspect who stabbed a man in Washington Heights on Wednesday morning, leaving him critically wounded, remains on the lam, law enforcement sources said.
According to police sources, the attack unfolded on West 177th Street near Audubon Avenue at around 7:23 a.m. on June 17.
Officers from the 33rd Precinct say they received a 911 call reporting an assault in progress. When they arrived, they discovered the victim, a 38-year-old man, with a stab wound to the neck.

EMS rushed the victim to Harlem Hospital, where he is listed in critical condition.
Based on a preliminary investigation, police reported that the victim had been attacked by a suspect described as a heavyset man wearing a pink hoodie, blue jeans, and durag. The perpetrator fled on foot toward St. Nicholas Avenue following the violent assault.
Hours after the attack, blood could be seen staining the sidewalk in the middle of a crime scene outside of a pet grooming business. Detectives were spotted reviewing surveillance footage from local storefronts, including the pet salon.

“The detectives had been in there for a while looking at the CCTV,” one customer told amNewYork. “I waited an hour before I took my dog in; I wasn’t sure if an employee was hurt.”
A receptionist with the business told amNewYork the incident took place outside but didn’t involve them. Police also marked some drinks and what appeared to be a small vial as evidence. The victim’s hat could also be seen discarded at the scene.
No arrests have been made, and the investigation remains ongoing.
