Major League Soccer (MLS) unveiled its new global headquarters at 2 Penn Plaza on Wednesday, as the league continues its significant growth in its 31st season.
The 126,000-square-foot facility spans two floors, nearly double the size of their previous headquarters at 420 Fifth Ave. The space features over 80 meeting and collaboration spaces, as well as the league’s Match Day Center, an operations hub that will serve as a centralized command center to monitor and support every match. Real-time match data and league content will be integrated throughout the office.
Designed by TPG Architecture, the facility is based on an “office as a stadium” concept, aiming to mirror the energy and movement of the game. Entry into the facility is inspired by the tunnels players walk through before every match. There is a central, midfield hub and locker-room-style spaces as well.
The lighting is inspired by the original 1996 MLS official match ball, tifo-inspired graphics are installed throughout, and all 30 clubs are represented through some of their most indelible moments and artifacts.
