BRONX, NY — Jazz Chisholm Jr. was clearly unhappy about his usage during the ALDS, which saw his Yankees get swept aside easily by the Tampa Bay Rays in three games.

The veteran second baseman did not start Game 3 on Wednesday night, with manager Aaron Boone opting for Anthony Volpe instead. When asked about his reaction when he found out he wasn’t in the lineup, Chisholm curtly said, “No comment, next.”

He dropped another “no comment” when he was asked why he thought the Yankees could not handle the Rays. Read between the lines, and it clearly sounds like a player taking a dig at the manager for not playing him.

His night somehow got even worse. He pinch-hit in the seventh inning, and after popping out, he was booed by the Yankee Stadium crowd. He nearly recorded the last outs of the his team’s season in the bottom of the ninth when he grounded into a tailor-made double play, but Rays shortstop Taylor Walls’ throw to first was low, and Jonathan Aranda could not reel it in.

Trent Grisham, the next batter, struck out swinging to end it.

When asked about the boos, Chisholm initially shrugged it off.

“I already understand New York fans,” he said. “They booed Aaron Judge before. Who am I?”

Well, maybe he doesn’t fully understand them.

“It’s just confusing because it’s the playoffs and we’re trying to win games,” he said shortly after. “So you’re booing a guy that’s playing currently, trying to help the team win, and you’re hearing boos instead of trying to hype the guys up.”

Still, after being at odds with his manager multiple times throughout his two-plus seasons in the Bronx and expressing displeasure with the fan base, Chisholm maintained that he wants to be back with the Yankees next season.

“I love it as a Yankee,” he said. “I grew up as a Yankee fan. Being from the Bahamas, watching Derek Jeter. I loved my time as a Yankee. I had great times as a Yankee — had an All-Star year, had a Silver Slugger year. Who doesn’t want to stay with the team you have such great times with?”

The 28-year-old soon-to-be free agent had a down season after posting a 30/30 campaign in 2025. He batted .231 with a .711 OPS, with 19 home runs and 55 RBI after boldly claiming that he was going for a 50/50 season in 2026.
