Police are on the hunt for a man who stabbed a subway rider in the head with a pen inside the Times Square subway station earlier this month.
According to police sources, the attack unfolded at around 9:20 a.m. on Aug. 10 on a platform within the 42nd Street-Times Square station.
Cops say a 35-year-old man was standing on the platform when he got into an argument with the suspect. Authorities say the perpetrator then pulled out a pen and stabbed the straphanger in the head.
Following the attack, authorities said, the suspect fled on foot. He was last seen wearing a gray shirt and light-colored pants.
Paramedics and officers from NYPD Transit District 1 responded to the assault. The victim was treated on the scene by EMS for non-life-threatening injuries. Sources familiar with the investigation report that the victim has been cooperative with police but they believe the pair had known each other in some way.
Detectives have released surveillance images of the suspect in hopes he will be recognized.
