Puerto Rican Day parade marches down 5th Avenue.

Amid cries of “¡Wepa!” echoing through Midtown Manhattan, chants of “Let’s Go Knicks!” rang out just as loudly during the annual Puerto Rican Day Parade on Sunday.
Following a thrilling night of celebration, the orange and blue of the New York Knicks blended seamlessly with the red, white, and blue of the Puerto Rican flag. Fans lined the parade route waving banners that proudly combined both symbols, showcasing cultural pride and hometown loyalty.
Stepping off at 44th Street and Madison Avenue, the parade saw New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, Governor Kathy Hochul, Public Advocate Jumaane Williams, a slew of elected officials, and Grand Marshall music icon Daddy Yankee.
Despite the summer heat, parade spectators and participants danced throughout the streets in a celebration of Puerto Rican heritage, resilience, and culture in one of the city’s most vibrant annual traditions.
Salsa beats and the roar of cheers emanated throughout Fifth Avenue where the parade culminated on 79th Street.
