On Thursday night, the New York City bar Yesterday’s hosted the NBC Sports x Premier League: Find Your Match Event. Attendees were put through a thorough personality questionnaire to find one of the 20 Premier League teams that would perfectly match with who they are.
There were five interactive stations where guests could describe their own personality and pick their favorite personalities, scents, NBC characters and songs to help find the Premier League team that fit them best.
After completing the survey, guests were treated to appetizers, drinks and a live DJ as they awaited their results. One by one, announcers would direct attendees to the back, where they found their perfect club and were able to pick a retro jersey from the team that they were matched with.
“It was fun, it was cute, I think you got to learn a lot about yourself. They asked us to create our perfect relationship with certain traits but, I think the one I enjoyed the most was how they asked you to describe yourself through everyone else’s eyes. I had a good time,” guest Trisha K said at the event

This event was a part of NBC Sports’ initiative to help grow viewership of the Premier League in the United States. As the season is only a couple of weeks away, the league hopes it can use the momentum of the FIFA 2026 World Cup to keep the American people interested in soccer.
“We want to create meaningful bonds with fans in the United States and the clubs back in the UK. We want to help bridge that gap across the pond and give people an incentive and reason to watch. Have them fall in love with our stars. There are so many stars off the back of the World Cup that people are used to watching, like Erling Haaland, Bruno Fernandes and more,” Senior Director of Marketing at NBC Sports Lewis Clarke told amNewYork.
The event featured many influencers and social media personalities who were encouraged to create content about the experience throughout the night. Even NBA Champion New York Knicks player Deuce McBride was in attendance.

“It {social media} allows to reach the segments of audiences that were most interested in. We have a really great core, and we want to continue to serve that core of our fans. But how can we continue to spread the word and reach new pockets of audiences and tonight is a great example of people who will be able to reach and hopefully leverage their platforms of loyal followers to engage with the Premier League,” he continued.
NBC Sports is committed to creating unique experiences for American fans throughout the country but especially in major markets like New York as more events are set to hit the City as the Premier League season gets underway.
“We’re very excited to give people the experience that outside of going to the UK they cannot get,” he concluded.
