The irate perpetrator who allegedly stabbed an MTA worker during an argument inside the Times Square-42nd Street subway station earlier this week.

The man accused of stabbing an MTA worker after being confronted for allegedly urinating inside the Times Square subway station last week turned himself in to police on Wednesday.
According to police sources, 30-year-old Jhon Hurtado Olmos surrendered on Sept. 2 after being sought for more than a week. He had been wanted since Aug. 24, when authorities say he attacked an MTA cleaner inside the Times Square subway station.
Police allege Hurtado Olmos was urinating on the platform when a 30-year-old on-duty MTA worker confronted him. Hurtado Olmos allegedly became enraged, assaulted the worker, and then pulled out a sharp object, stabbing him in the left arm.
EMS transported the victim to Bellevue Hospital with a severe laceration. He was listed in stable condition.
Following the attack, Hurtado Olmos allegedly fled aboard a southbound 1 train.
TWU Local 100 President John Chiarello condemned the assault.
“This is the human side of what happens to our members,” Chiarello said. “We come to work to move New York every single day, and we expect to get home in the same condition that we came to work in.”
Detectives’ Endowment Association President Scott Munro also denounced the attack.
“It’s time to take a stand,” Munro said. “Nobody should be assaulted, whether you’re a transit worker or a New York City police officer.”
Hurtado Olmos has been charged with assault.
