When asked what his favorite thing about cannabis was, Maryjane General Manager Kepler’s answer was simple: The impact.
He recalls a time when two parents came to the Lenox Hill shop with their son, who had Attention-Deficient Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD.) Maryjane was able to provide them with a strain that would help.
When the parents came back for a second dose, they quickly expressed this was the happiest and calmest they’ve seen their son. They’ve tried medication and other methods, but providing him with cannabis has allowed him to express himself and stay peaceful.

“That was probably one of my favorite things. We got to help people,” said Kepler. “For me, whatever we could do with cannabis to help people, that’s phenomenal. I’m happy that I get to do that every day.”
Maryjane opened on April 9, 2025, as a father-daughter idea. They aim to provide an escapism for their customers that will leave them relaxed and chill, while also consuming cannabis in a safe way.
Maryjane also goes out of their way to educate the community about cannabis. They want to illuminate the different methods one can partake in, and help teach customers about what may work best for them. The staff is always willing to help first-time users feel comfortable.

“We want to change the stigma around cannabis,” said Kepler. “Cannabis is very helpful and really makes an impact.” While sharing samples and first-hand advice, Maryjane offers a unique shopping experience.
At the heart of it, Maryjane seeks to form a connection with customers. Kepler emphasizes the importance of community in the industry, sharing that their customers range from 21-year-olds to 80-year-olds.
Maryjane is not only planning a celebration for National Weed Day, also known as 4/20, on April 20, they’re also celebrating their one-year anniversary. They’ll have deals, DJ’s, contests and events throughout the whole week starting on April 17.
Maryjane is located at 799 Lexington Ave, open seven days a week.
