The New York Knicks and Madison Square Garden have paused their individual ticket sales after what they claim is a “mistake” that resulted in wildly exorbitant prices.
“We are rolling back to last year’s prices plus an average increase of 12%,” a statement from MSG Sports read. “We will restart sales with new prices shortly, and anyone who already purchased individual tickets will be refunded the difference. Our intention was never to overcharge our loyal fans, and we thank everyone for their support of the Knicks and their patience as we get this right.”
After winning their first NBA championship in 53 years, fans were floored to see tickets in the upper-level of Madison Square Garden going for over $1,000.
Tickets for the Knicks’ season opener on Oct. 20 against LeBron James and the Philadelphia 76ers, which also includes their championship ring ceremony and banner-raising, are starting at $1,191 on StubHub.
