Something wicked is brewing in the Flatiron District this weekend as the Harry Potter Shop New York celebrates five magical years since opening its doors to witches, wizards, and Muggles alike.
For five enchanting days, fans stepping through the doors of 935 Broadway won’t need Floo Powder to enter the Wizarding World or get a taste of Hagrid’s infamous birthday cake. The flagship store is marking the spellbinding milestone from June 3 through June 7 with festive birthday balloons amidst stacks of wands, navy-blue party hats emblazoned with “Five Years!” in gold lettering, a giant red-and-black cake topped with a rising phoenix, and plenty of magical games.
The celebration features an interactive scavenger hunt complete with a Daily Prophet-themed map. And for those lucky guests who successfully complete the challenge will earn a commemorative sticker prize.
Pack your Firebolt broomsticks because the party has already begun on Wednesday with complimentary birthday hats, a limited-edition anniversary pin included with any purchase, and slices of birthday cake for the first 100 guests.
No need to send a Howler if you missed opening-day festivities; there are still four more days of wizardry ahead. On Thursday, the Harry Potter Shop New York will be donating $1 from every purchase to The Birthday Party Project, helping children experiencing homelessness feel seen and celebrated by honoring their dreams and birthday wishes, creating magical moments for those who might otherwise go without a special celebration.
The fun continues into the weekend with exclusive merchandise, including the brand-new Happee Birthdae Harry Potter collection, available at the New York store before anywhere else in the world on Friday. The collection honors Harry’s birthday, celebrated each year on July 31.
On Saturday, the first 100 fans to arrive will receive a complimentary personalized Hogwarts acceptance letter to commemorate the occasion (this will be in the form of a voucher to redeem this exclusive experience).
The anniversary celebration concludes Sunday with the debut of a sweet new Butterbeer Bar offering: celebratory cake pops available in vanilla with raspberry and Butterbeer flavors.
Beyond the festivities, the Harry Potter Shop New York continues to offer year-round magic, from customizable Hogwarts robes and house-themed apparel to shelves stocked with magical treats, including Fizzing Whizzbees.
