Three people were injured, including one firefighter, after a three-alarm fire ripped through a Midtown Manhattan building early on Tuesday morning.
According to the Fire Department, the blaze broke out around 3:45 a.m. on June 30 inside the second floor of 355 7th Ave., an unoccupied commercial space between West 29th and 30th Streets. Authorities say the flames swiftly spread to the third floor of the building.
Within an hour, the FDNY upgraded the fire to a three-alarm event, bringing 75 units and more than 300 personnel to the scene. Images shared by the FDNY showed smoke bellowing from the windows and into the sky.
EMS treated two civilians and one firefighter for minor injuries on scene. The building itself was left charred and gutted.
Firefighters were able to bring the fire under control at around 7 a.m. Tuesday morning. The fire marshal will determine the cause of the blaze.
