The reigning NBA champion New York Knicks added depth to their summer league roster by signing former St. John’s guard Oziyah Sellers.

After Zuby Ejiofor, Bryce Hopkins, and Dillon Mitchell went off the board during the Draft, it was only a matter of time until Sellers received a call from a professional team.

Sellers, who started his collegiate career at USC and Stanford, is coming off his lone season with the Queens school, in which he produced 10.3 points along with 2.7 rebounds and 1.6 assists, while shooting 42.9% from the field. From long range, he knocked down 35.1% of his attempts while making 1.4 of his 4.1 threes per game.

His best outing of the season came in a blowout victory over Marquette, where he totaled 24 points and four three-pointers. He scored in double figures on 18 other occasions, including consecutive 20-point performances in November.

Sellers used his prolific scoring to help the Johnnies sweep their final six games, capturing their second-straight Big East regular-season and tournament titles en route to reaching the Sweet Sixteen of the NCAA Tournament.

Before joining the Red Storm, Sellers spent his junior year at Stanford, averaging 13.7 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game on 45.1% shooting. From beyond the arc, he made 40.1% of his attempts.

The Summer League allows both drafted and undrafted prospects to showcase their skills in an 11-day-long tournament from July 9-19. For undrafted players, if they perform exceptionally well, they can receive an offer to join the main roster or receive a contract to play in the developmental NBA G League.

The Knicks backcourt is led by Finals MVP Jalen Brunson. Outside of the superstar guard, the guard room includes reserves Miles McBride and Jose Alvarado. They also have sharp-shooter Landry Shamet, who is a free agent this offseason.

During this year’s draft, New York used its second round selections to select Jack Kayil out of Germany. They also took forward Tyler Nickel and Nick Martinelli, who displayed prolific scoring at the collegiate level. All three selections could be part of the Knicks summer league roster alongside Sellers.
