EAST RUTHERFORD — With a sold-out crowd of 80,663 at MetLife Stadium to take in the Group E finale between Ecuador and Germany, the 2026 FIFA World Cup set an all-time attendance record with a grand total of 3.6 million across the first 56 matches of the tournament.
It breaks the record of 3.587 million, which was set the last time the United States hosted the World Cup in 1994.
The 2026 competition also saw a single-day attendance record set, when 281,223 fans attended four matches on June 16. One of those tilts took place at MetLife Stadium, with France defeating Senegal 3-1 in front of 80,545 spectators.
