The exciting world of professional darts is coming to New York City on Thursday, as some of the globe’s best players compete in the US Darts Masters.
The lineup for this year’s event is filled with big names, including Luke Littler and Luke Humphries, the two leaders on the Professional Darts Corporation’s (PDC) Order of Merit rankings. They’re joined by other top-20 players such as Josh Rock, Stephen Bunting, and Gerwyn Price, among others. The total field has 16 competitors, including eight PDC representatives and eight North American representatives.
The Infosys Theatre at Madison Square Garden, which seats roughly 5,600 people, is hosting the tournament. The first round starts at 7 pm ET on Thursday, and the event will wrap up with the finals the following night.
Professional darts has been growing in popularity worldwide as more fans discover the high-energy, exciting sport. The crowds are known for being raucous and having lots of fun. Tickets are now available online for the US Darts Masters, with seats for the final going for over $150 on the secondary market.
The 19-year-old Littler has become an international sensation with more than two million Instagram followers. Despite not yet being old enough to order a beer in America, Littler has already built an impressive resume, which includes 28 total PDC titles. He’s the top-ranked player in the world, a major draw, and is sure to be one of the major reasons why fans flock to this event.
The US Darts Masters is the fourth event of the World Series of Darts. The Bahrain Masters, Saudi Arabia Masters, and Nordic Masters have already taken place this year, with Michael van Gerwen, a Dutch athlete, winning two of those tournaments. The New Zealand Masters and Australian Masters will take place later this year, before the World Series of Darts Finals in Amsterdam on September 17-20.
