As President Donald Trump mulls the latest peace proposal between the United States and Iran, Rick Scott says an armistice shouldn’t come with a payout for the Islamic Republic.
The postwar investment fund, reportedly worth as much as $300 billion, reminds the Senator from Naples of appeasement by past presidents.
“Republicans are not the party of Barack Obama that throws money like that out to them,” Scott said on Fox News Saturday.
The money could include joint investments and developments in the country that the United States could help facilitate.
Scott believes that Iran owes reparations for the proxy wars it has backed in Gaza, Lebanon, and Yemen.
He is also skeptical of a negotiated settlement and advocates regime change.
“I’m hopeful Trump can get a deal. I’m very pessimistic that’ll happen. So I think we’re going to have to go back and destroy the Revolutionary Guards. (That is) the only way they’re not going to have nuclear weapons,” Scott said.
