The Mets’ youthful revolution is in full swing, as the team is calling up its No. 11-ranked prospect, outfielder Nick Morabito, as first reported by MLB.com on Tuesday.

The 23-year-old right-hander projects as more of a fourth outfielder, though he possesses significant game-changing qualities in his speed — graded 70 on MLB Pipeline’s 20-80 scale — and solid defense at all three outfield positions. In 41 games with Triple-A Syracuse this season, he slashed .253/.364/.390 with four home runs, 17 RBI, six doubles, and 14 stolen bases.

Between 2024 and 2025, he swiped a combined 108 bags between Single-A and Double-A.

Per MLB.com, the Mets are designating Austin Slater for assignment to make room on the roster, which continues to gain momentum, much in part due to its newly introduced youngsters.

Rookie Carson Benge, who won a spot on the Opening Day roster out of camp, is starting to come around in a big way. He went 3-for-6 with three RBI in the Mets’ 16-7 win over the Washington Nationals on Monday night, and in his last 14 games, he is batting .382 with a .970 OPS, a home run, five doubles, and 11 RBI.

AJ Ewing, at just 21 years old, has dazzled in his first week in the majors and looks very much like New York’s center fielder of the future. He batted .304 with a .988 OPS, one home run, one triple, four RBI, and two stolen bases across his first seven big-league games.

The Mets’ rookies are making their way to the forefront of the team’s turnaround, which has seen them win 11 of their last 16 games entering Tuesday night’s middle game against the Nationals down in D.C.

Morabito will enter a crowded outfield picture that, alongside Benge and Ewing, also features Juan Soto, Tyrone Taylor, and MJ Melendez.
