Police have identified the suspect behind a violent slashing on the Lower East Side earlier this year.

Detectives want to talk to Shaquan Edwards, 33, who is being sought for the attack that occurred at 3 a.m. on Jan. 4 in front of 174 Orchard St., the Skinny Bar and Lounge, off Stanton Street.

Sources familiar with the case said that Edwards had become embroiled in a dispute with a friend of the 25-year-old male victim. The victim would later tell police that he stepped in to try and break up the escalating fight when Edwards pulled out a cutting instrument and slashed him across the face.

Following the bloody attack, cops said, the suspect fled the scene on foot in an unknown direction.

The incident was reported to the 7th Precinct. EMS rushed the victim to Bellevue Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition.

Police released Edwards’ photo early on Friday morning, hoping that someone can help them track him down. Sources close to the case said that Edwards has three prior arrests on his record, the most recent being a 2024 collar for reckless endangerment.

Anyone with information regarding Edwards’ whereabouts can call Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS (for Spanish, dial 888-57-PISTA). You can also submit tips online at crimestoppers.nypdonline.org, or on X (formerly Twitter) @NYPDTips. All calls and messages are kept confidential.
