The slasher who attacked a man at the 42nd Street-Grand Central subway station last week remains at large, police reported.

Police released on Sunday night images of the assailant responsible for the slashing that occurred on board a downtown-bound 4 train as it approached the station at about 9:25 p.m. on Oct. 8.

Based on a preliminary investigation, police determined that the victim, a 34-year-old man, became embroiled in a verbal dispute with the unidentified male suspect.

The beef quickly devolved into a physical struggle, cops said. Things turned bloody when the perpetrator pulled out a sharp object and sliced the victim across the face with it.

Following the assault, authorities said, the suspect fled the scene in an unknown direction.

The incident was reported to the Midtown South Precinct and NYPD Transit District 4 responded to the scene. EMS rushed the victim to Bellevue Hospital in stable condition.

Police described the suspect as a man who was last seen wearing a black jacket, blue jeans, and multicolored sneakers.

Anyone with information regarding the slashing or the suspect’s whereabouts can call Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS (for Spanish, dial 888-57-PISTA). You can also submit tips online at crimestoppers.nypdonline.org, or on X (formerly Twitter) @NYPDTips. All calls and messages are kept confidential.
