Interra Health, a health tech platform for prescribing, announced Thursday that it is now supporting the Medicare GLP-1 Bridge program.
The Medicare GLP-1 Bridge program launched in July and allows eligible Medicare Part D beneficiaries to access GLP-1 medications for weight loss at $50 per month. The pilot is being tested through December 31, 2027.
Interra Health was created by the merger of DoseSpot, Arrive Health and pVerify. The combined platform helps providers access real-time coverage and cost insights, allows patients to see coverage and affordability information, and surfaces benefit information for PBMs and payers.
With Interra Health, when a provider orders an eligible GLP-1 for a Medicare patient, the company’s solution notifies the provider that the patient might qualify for the Medicare GLP-1 Bridge program. The notification instructs the provider to include the appropriate ICD-10 code with the prescription and complete the required prior authorization to obtain the discounted price for their patient.
“The GLP-1 Bridge program creates an important new affordability pathway for Medicare patients, but there are specific medications, formulations and clinical criteria that determine whether a patient is eligible. We saw an opportunity to make that information actionable for providers at the point of prescribing,” said JB Powell, chief business development officer of Interra Health, in an email.
“Rather than expecting a provider to know which formulations qualify or search for program requirements outside of their workflow, we can surface relevant information when they’re making the prescribing decision and help them take the appropriate next step for their patient,” he continued.
The company joined the Medicare GLP-1 Bridge program on July 1. Since launching, Interra Health has delivered more than 170,000 point-of-prescribing alerts. In addition, it has alerted more than 30,000 unique prescribers.
By joining the Medicare GLP-1 Bridge program, Interra Health aims to “remove all guesswork” from the prescribing process, Powell said.
“Providers and patients shouldn’t have to figure out on their own whether a medication is covered, what it will cost, whether there’s a more affordable option available or what steps are required to access it,” he stated. “By bringing prescribing, coverage and pricing information, and prior authorization closer together, we can give providers the information they need to make a more informed decision for each patient at the point of care. For patients, that means a clearer path from prescription to medication, with fewer surprises and less friction along the way.”
