Surrounded by bustling farmers, local producers, and talented artisans, the Midtown Association has plans to fill the air with fresh food, good vibes, and great tunes at the Midtown Farmers Market in August. The community is encouraged to celebrate National Farmers Market Week (August 2-8) by spending time exploring and enjoying at the Midtown Farmers Market AND is urged to vote for the market to help retain its coveted title as #1 Best Farmers Market in California (and #3 in the U.S.). Plus, the Midtown Farmers Market is hungry to become the #1 in the nation but needs support from shoppers to make it happen. Public voting begins August 1 for the 18th Annual America’s Farmland Celebration by American Farmland Trust for shoppers to choose their favorite Farmers Market in America. The deadline to cast votes is by September 30 via this link.
The Midtown Farmers Market is proudly sponsored by Sutter Health and presented by SMUD. The open-air market first debuted in 2013 and is available on Saturdays year-round – rain or shine – with spring/summer hours now in effect from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. The thriving, ever-growing and sprawling Midtown Farmers Market spans six-blocks.
Special Market Activations in August
The Midtown Farmers Market offers a variety of special activations and entertaining music in August presented by SMUD and taking place in Market Square located at 20th & K Streets (unless specified otherwise).
Saturday, August 1 – Kick-off to National Farmers Market Week (August 2-8)
- 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. – Ready, set, shop and win! Boutique Blvd. Bingo game cards are available for pick-up at the Information Booth for market guests to shop around Boutique Blvd. and play a fun game along the way. Later that day, shoppers who return bingo cards will receive a raffle ticket to be entered for a chance to win a gift bag filled with items from some of the different vendors of that block (prize value is $200). Winner will be announced on August 4.
- 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. – To kick-off Farmers Market Week, a flower cart with flowers, paper and branded stickers will be available for guests to make small flower bouquets (while supplies last)
- 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. – Entertaining live acoustic music performed by Bluegrass Lemonade
Saturday, August 8 – Midtown Second Saturday
- 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. — Fire Pixie Entertainment will offer a hands-on bubble art activation for kids and the young-at-heart
- 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. – Entertaining music performed by singer, songwriter and guitarist Alpina Basnet
Saturday, August 15
- 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. – Entertaining live music performed by Strings 2 the Groove offering Classic Hip Hop and R&B, 80’s dance and funk vibes

- 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. – Entertaining music by local singer Tess Andrea offering an eclectic mix of R&B, Old School, Pop, and Neo Soul

Market Footprint Shifts Starting August 1
Filled with amazing local vendors and a vibrant energy permeating throughout, the Midtown Farmers Market is always growing and evolving. Starting in August, some layout refinements of the Midtown Farmers Market’s footprint will occur (which will result in an increase of more than 20 vendor spaces), as follows:
- Culinary Corridor will shift to K Street between 19th and 20th.
- Boutique Boulevard will shift to K Street between 21st and 22nd (this will allow room for 12 additional vendor spaces).
- Producers Plaza will shift to Kayak Alley (allowing room for 10 additional agricultural spaces).
