Red Bull New York is approaching a deal to send 18-year-old goalkeeper Aidan Stokes to Premier League side Brentford, a source confirms with amNewYork.
Daniel Rebain of Area Sports Network was first to report that a deal was in the works.
The deal includes an option to purchase.
Stokes is expected to join Brentford’s Premier League 2 side, which is the developmental league of England’s top flight. The 2026-27 campaign will be Brentford’s first season in Premier League 2 after being awarded Category One status by the Professional Game Academy Audit Company.
Brentford had reopened its academy just four years ago after closing in 2016.
Stokes is an up-and-comer in the American youth system, having been called into the United States’ U-18 camp in Portugal back in March and its U-19 camp in May. There is expected to be some competition for his international services, though, as he qualifies to play for Wales and England due to his ancestry.
He was selected to play for the Welsh U-16 side in 2023 and played for England’s U-17 squad in 2024.
