WWE superstar Danhausen rolled through the rain-soaked streets outside Madison Square Garden on Saturday aboard a Knicks-themed float, celebrating both New York’s championship victory and what fans jokingly credit as his lifting of the team’s curse.
Known for his quirky antics and signature “curses” in WWE, Danhausen famously declared he had uncursed the Knicks earlier this season. The team went on to capture the championship, turning the eccentric wrestler into an unlikely folk hero among New York fans.
To mark the occasion, Danhausen was joined by WWE Tag Team Champion R-Truth and a group of mini-Hausens on a float decked out in Knicks blue and orange, complete with a towering cutout of Danhausen’s face.
“I feel great. I feel like I am owed some monies,” Danhausen joked to amNewYork while riding through Manhattan under an umbrella.
“Bueno!” R-Truth chimed in, proudly wearing his championship title around his waist.
When asked whether he planned to curse anyone during his New York visit, Danhausen had a target in mind.
“Cursing anyone? I gotta curse Judgment Day,” he said before quickly correcting himself with a grin. “No cursing. Well, actually, yes, there is cursing.”
“Old Judgment Day, not the new one,” R-Truth added.
The parade traveled from Fanatics Fest at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center to Madison Square Garden, where WWE’s Saturday Night’s Main Event was set to take place later that evening.
Despite steady rain, fans lined 31st Street and Eighth Avenue, cheering, waving and calling out to the wrestlers as the float passed by. Danhausen and R-Truth tossed T-shirts into the crowd, drawing enthusiastic reactions from those braving the weather.
The celebration ended with one final surprise. As Danhausen prepared to enter Madison Square Garden, WWE legend The Boogeyman emerged to ambush the group, smashing a clock over his own head before stuffing a handful of worms into his mouth, sending Danhausen and his entourage scrambling.
