The Midtown Association is pleased to present a series of elevated Midtown Second Saturday activations on July 11. A signature monthly activation for the Midtown Association, Sutter Health’s Midtown Second Saturday includes a full-sensory celebration of Midtown’s creative spirit district-wide where creativity takes over the streets and the energy carries into the night. A few highlights for July 11 include a vibrant 16M Alley Activation with Silent Disco by H.E.R.E. Sac and the continuation of the Midtown Mural Trail. Sutter Health’s Midtown Second Saturday is presented by the Midtown Association, Five Star Bank, City of Sacramento and supported by radio partners MIX96, New Country 1051 KNCI, Now 100.5 FM, and Sactown Sports 1140AM.
Expected to draw nearly 9K visitors to Midtown each month, Midtown Second Saturday programming starts early in the day at the Midtown Farmers Market and continues well into the evening. The monthly activations are designed to celebrate Midtown’s thriving arts and culture scene along with the individuals who bring it to life. Attendees can enjoy an all-day/evening celebration of local artists and artistry, entertaining music, dance and theatre performances, culinary artistry in action, and food and drink specials at popular Midtown bars and restaurants. A sampling of the enhanced programming and special activations follows.
Midtown Second Saturday Highlights for July 11
- Mornings at the Market – the crowd-favorite Midtown Farmers Market is open 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. with free live music by A King’s Dream performing jazzy classics with a bass guitar and saxophone at Market Square (20th & K Streets).
- 16M Arts District Alley Activation – Midtown Second Saturday attendees are invited to grab some headphones and get ready to dance under the stars when a silent disco takes over Government Alley (behind the Mansion Apartments at 1517 H Street) from 8:00 to 10:00 p.m. Hosted by H.E.R.E. Sac, the no-cost dance party sits right in the heart of the 16M Arts District, along the route of the Midtown Mural Trail. Live art by Mars Perkins will bring an extra layer of creative energy to the night, making it the perfect spot to soak in Midtown’s art, music, and community spirit all in one place. While the dance floor is open to everyone at no charge, a limited VIP experience is available while supplies last, featuring a wine pour from Acheson Wine and soft serve ice cream from Maria’s Paella. VIP access is extended to three groups: residents of 16M apartment communities—including The Mansion, Mod at Midtown, Studio 30, Eleanor H16, The Grace, or Lavender Courtyard (with proof of residency); ticket holders for any upcoming Broadway Sacramento show with proof of ticket; and any event attendee who makes a $20 or greater donation to Midtown Parks on site.
- Midtown Mural Trail – introduced last month, the self-guided Midtown Mural Trail invites guests to explore a curated collection of murals that showcase the creativity, culture, and stories that make Midtown unique. Using a free digital pass, explorers can check in at featured murals throughout the district, unlocking an interactive experience that awards points that can be redeemed for raffle entries on a number of amazing prizes. Along the way, guests will hear directly from participating artists through exclusive audio recordings that provide insight into the inspiration, meaning, and process behind their work. July artists for the self-guided Midtown Mural Trail include Jenn Ponci, Dylan Tellesen, ASHOP Crew, Manuel Fernando Rios, Fintan Scott-Magee, and Maren Conrad.
